About OVO Brand

The Origin and History of the OVO Brand

The inception of the OVO watch concept was a creative journey sparked by the 1986 Japanese animated film "Castle in the Sky" (Laputa: Castle in the Sky) by the renowned Hayao Miyazaki. In this cinematic masterpiece, a robot with a round head and an LED nose made a memorable impression. This iconic robot design served as the muse for the three LEDs featured on the OVO watch, adding a touch of cinematic magic to the timepiece.

One of the standout features of the OVO watch is its display on a 640 - dot matrix LCD. This display offers a real Tic - tac - toe game and a Yes/No random decision - making function, which together evoke a robotic and futuristic feel. What sets this LCD apart is its unique "oval" shape. Unlike the conventional rectangular LCD displays, the OVO team specially designed this oval form. When the design was presented to the LCD factory, there were doubts about how the graphics could be clearly seen in such a distorted layout. However, the factory took on the challenge and successfully produced it.

OVO version One

The OVO watch's innovative design did not go unnoticed. In 1999, it received the Certificate of Merit in Consumer Product Design from the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, a testament to its creativity and quality.

Promo for Coca-Cola Company

The first version of the OVO watch with built-in games became a step towards Smart watches. Nobody could even think about something like a smart watch in 1999, but we made this big step in this direction, which gave impetus to the entire watch industry, giving an idea that electronic watches can be something much bigger and more functional. It was a revolutionary product at that time, which became a bestseller for several years. And in the early 2000s, we released the second version of this watch, which was also very warmly received by the market. This model of watches was used for promotion by the international company Coca-Cola.

Retrofit / Rpolice

Over several years, many innovative ideas have accumulated, which we began to implement. In 2002, we created a series of Zeon Matrix Led watches inspired by the recently released blockbuster The Matrix with Keanu Reeves. And in 2004, we produced Retrofit / Rpolice - with a matrix LED display and a stylish stainless steel case. The entire edition of these watches was sold out almost instantly. We had to make several more editions to satisfy all the requests. After such a huge success of our Retrofit/Rpolice watch model, the era of stylish, expensive, branded LED and binary watches literally began. Since 2004, we have created and brought to life many dozens of the most daring unusual designer watches for Zeon London, Citizen, Seiko, Issey Myaki, Stark, Kisai, Twelve-5-9, Coca-cola, Seahope, Eleeno. And we literally laid the foundation for a new industry of LED and binary watches with a bold and unusual design.
